What are Sound Schemes?

Sound schemes are the sounds you hear when an ICQ event occurs (such as a message arriving, or an incoming chat request).
When you download ICQ, the program comes with a default package of sounds to fit each event.

These sounds can be changed (click here to see how), to fit the sounds you would like to hear on each event.
We offer you here a number of Sound Schemes to exchange, arranged by topics.

You may disable your sounds, if you'd rather work in silence, in the following way:

  • Click on the ICQ button in the ICQ window.
  • Click on 'Preferences', and then on the 'Event' tab.
  • Uncheck the box next to "Play Sounds".

 How to Create Sound Schemes

Choose a wav file that you like, and decide on the event you think it fits.
Rename the wav file to the name of the event (Choose from the list).
To view the list of the authorized file names, follow the instructions on "How to Configure Sounds" until step 5.

E.g.
If you want your file to fit the event of an "incoming message", rename it to "message.wav"
If you want your file to fit the event of a "chat request" rename it to "chat.wav"

All of the below steps are shown on the Use Schemes Page.
Please read all of them before going to the page.

  1. Create a set of sounds schemes you like.
  2. Save the scheme set under a name you like.
  3. Export the scheme set.
